Life can sometimes get the best of us – work, social events, family get together, it can be difficult to juggle. The key is to find simple ways throughout each day to minimise your stress levels and get you feeling your best.
It might seem like a no brainer but getting into the habit of using breathing techniques will help bodily functions perform better. Stress puts strain on your body and can cause aches and pains. Ensure you tune into your body, take moments out of your day to stop and clear your thoughts by breathing in and out, at your own pace, and through your nose.
A technique you can use is focusing on the pause between inhalation and exhalation. At the end of your inhalation, hold the breathe and be aware that this pause, is the most important step in resetting your breath.
Make sure you begin each day with your mind clear and focused on the present. The first step is to start implementing an early morning routine. Start about 30 minutes before you usually rise. You need 30 minutes before bed to unwind and you need 30 minutes before you wake. Invest in yourself each day to break the cycle of chronic stress. Prior to bed, rituals are also a great way to get you in control for the following day.
This is not to say you need to enlist in hardcore training classes, just a walk or jog each day will produce endorphins, and help you alleviate some of those daily stresses. It helps to either workout in the morning to start the day with a clear mind, or immediately after work to release any tension you face in the day. Who doesn’t love a good session under the summer sun, or even to get a little warmer in winter – whatever you prefer works.
The importance of fruits and vegetables are more powerful than you imagine. All the natural vitamins and minerals your body craves are right there in the fruits and veg you eat each day. So ensure you are consistent and have these types of foods throughout your day. Green juices are a great way to detoxify your body.
Green juices are an awesome way to detoxify your body and start the day! Getting your fruits and veg in first thing is the best thing you can do for your body. So check out Marco’s favourite green juice recipe, and bring some added energy to your mornings.
x1 Serving Ingredients:
1⁄2 Kale bunch
3 or 4 30cm of fresh celery sticks (not the pre-cut in plastic celery)
1⁄2 Green Apple
Use any leftover fruit and veg for the next morning. Be savvy with your groceries!
Firstly, rinse the veggies and the apple.
Chop up the celery into 4 sticks and the apple in half (you can leave the other half for later in the day to consume).
Combine all ingredients into the blender, and squeeze the lemon on top. Depending on the consistency you prefer, blend the ingredients for as much, or as little you need. Pour it into a glass or bottle for on the go, and enjoy!
Don’t be afraid to get a little creative with fruits and veg you may substitute in and out of the recipe. Just make sure you don’t go overboard with the amount of ingredients, 4 or 5 is the perfect amount.
